Stop 4 & 5 – Knysna and Plettenberg Bay
We continued onwards, stopping in Knysna for a tasty fresh fish lunch at the quaint waterfront. Lined with boutique shops and independent restaurants, this town also boasts a stunning lagoon, which can be viewed from both sides of the land as it opens out to the ocean. Just an hour and a half away lies the vibrant Plettenberg Bay. We stayed at Lairds Lodge which was like a home-away-from-home. Its plain to see that service is at the core of everything they do and I think I can speak for my group when I say some of us are still dreaming of their homemade chocolate cake! For a different view, we went up Tsala Treetops and overlooked the forest below us. From there we thoroughly enjoyed a hearty meal tucked away at Hunters Country Lodge! This area has so much to offer, not just in accommodation styles but also with activities. Whether its tranquility or thrills, you are spoilt for choice. Spend time hiking through the Robberg Peninsula or Tsitsikamma National Park, go on a whale watching boat trip, visit the Birds of Eden or Monkeyland, or if you are feeling brave take on the world’s highest bridge bungee off Bloukrans Bridge.
